Student Positions available during your first show and every show after:

Build Crew: If it is your first show, this is where you begin. In Build Crew, you will learn various scenic techniques on set construction, painting, and props. Occasionally, Build Crew will delve into lighting and audio work as well.

Run Crew: Run Crew helps operate and run the production once we enter our blackout dates. This can consist of operating a light or sound board, spotlight operation, moving scenery, helping withquick changes, or fly rail operation. Run Crew is assigned by the Technical Director based on how well you perform as Build Crew. Additionally, all student design/management roles are automatically Run Crew.

Student Positions available to apply for once you have completed one show as Build Crew:

Stage Manager: is responsible for keeping track of everything that happens on stage during rehearsals. This role directly assists the Director on a daily basis. They are in charge of the delegation of tasks to their Assistant Stage Manager.

Assistant Stage Manager: directly assists the Stage Manager in rehearsals and will take on tasks that the Stage Manager assigns.

Scenic Designer: collaborates with the Director and Technical Director to create a cohesive scenic design for the production. Once the design is done, they will assist build crew in the construction of their design. Art or photoshop skills are a huge benefit to this position.

Assistant Scenic Designer: will collaborate with the Scenic Designer, Director, and Technical Director to create one small set element within the show. Once the design is done, they will assist Build Crew in the construction of their design. Art or photoshop skills are a huge benefit to this position.

Lighting Designer: collaborates with the Director and Technical Director to create a cohesive lighting design for the production. This entails hanging and focusing lighting fixtures, programming and patching the lighting console, and 2 days of intense Q2Q for the lighting design. The Lighting Designer also acts as the Light Board Operator for the production they design.

Assistant Lighting Designer: assists the Lighting Designer and collaborates with them on one scene for design purposes. They will learn how to program, hang and focus lights, and design over the course of the production.

Sound Designer: collaborates with the Director and Technical Director to ensure a cohesive sound design for the production. Depending on the production, they will also be responsible for the operation and use of wireless microphones. Knowledge of QLab is a big benefit. The Sound Designer also acts as the Sound Board Operator for the production they design.

Assistant Sound Designer: will assist the Sound Designer over the course of the production. They will also gradually learn how to EQ microphones, use QLab, use the sound board, and more.

Props Designer: collaborates with the Director and Technical director to ensure all props necessary for the production will be created. They are also responsible for designing, creating, building, and sourcing props for the production. The Props Designer will also act as Props Manager for the course of the production.

Assistant Props Designer: will assist the Props Designer in the creation of props while also learning how to source and organize props.

Costume Manager: will assist the Costume Designer in ensuring a quality experience for the actors wearing the costumes. They will assist with quick changes in the show and they will ensure that the costumes are being kept in good shape.

Deck Captain: is responsible for creating the shift plot and ensuring all scene changes within a show happen with precision and efficiency. They are responsible for managing Run Crew.

Lead Carpenter: directly assists the Technical Director in the day-to-day operations of the scene shop. They will be able to take charge of other students to ensure the scenic design is built to RHS Theatre Quality.
